Tried & Tested Hurom H70 Juicer Review

You are currently viewing Tried & Tested Hurom H70 Juicer Review

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I am a big fan of juicing! In the past, we have mainly stuck to juicing citrus and had a citrus-specific juicer (you can read my review on that HERE). Now, we have branched out and are trying an all-in-one juicer that feels really luxurious and extravagant, and I am all for incorporating all kinds of other fruit (and vegetable) juice into our lives!

Why Juice?

I see juicing as an added benefit of health. Some people juice to intake more fruits and vegetables, some people juice to prevent wasting old(er) produce, some people juice as part of their lifestyle, some people do it because they prefer the juice over the actual produce, and some do it to get/keep their kids excited about consuming produce.

As far as I see it, there is no real downside to juicing. Some people say that you are not getting all of the benefits of the fruits or vegetables if you juice because you are removing the fiber, but honestly, you are benefitting more by consuming the juice than by not consuming those fruits or vegetables at all. And, not to mention, I haven’t tasted a fruit or a mixed fruit juice that hasn’t been delicious! It’s a win-win!

There are many reasons you might want to juice, including:

  • Wanting to get in extra servings of fruits and vegetables
  • Switching up your routine to get/keep your family excited about consuming healthy foods
  • Using up fruits and vegetables before they go bad (like when they are almost too soft to eat, but you don’t want to throw them out)
  • Maybe you want to mix in a fruit or vegetable to your rotation that you don’t want to eat on its own and you mix it with some yummier selections to mask the taste

Things to Consider When Buying a Juicer

  • Quality of juice
  • How good it filters
  • What you can juice versus what you are hoping to juice
  • Prep work to fruits and vegetables needed before putting it in the juicer (e.g., cutting, chopping, peeling)
  • How quickly it juices
  • How much noise it makes
  • How easy it is to clean
  • How much storage space it will take up

Hurom Juicers

The Hurom brand has been in the juicing business for over 50 years, and currently has eight juicers available for sale on their website (which, I of course have not tried all of them individually to compare)! The juicers are made of quality materials, with no blades, with the idea being more to “hand squeeze” the produce. The Hurom juicer that I tested out was the Huron H70, which is the “Easy Clean Slow Juicer.”

All About the Hurom H70 Juicer

The Hurom H70 Juicer is advertised as a juicer that can juice anything and still fit on your counter without being too noisy. I would describe the juicer as an all-in-one juicer that can juice almost any fruit or vegetable, with a great filter that filters out seeds, pulp and all other fibrous materials, and does so rather quickly. It allows you to create the juice of your imagination, and rejoice while getting to drink the natural wonder that you have just juiced that tastes so much better than any juice you have ever bought!

Hurom H70 Juicer Parts

There are 9 parts in total (see picture below), including a cleaning brush and recipe book that are included. The cleaning brush is great and has two different sized brushes, while the recipe book is more helpful when it comes to knowing how to cut or peel fruits and vegetables before putting them in to juice.

The 9 parts of the Hurom H70 Juicer are:

  • Pusher – This is a part you can place inside the Hopper in case you need help juicing. (After all of my experience using this juicer, I have not yet needed to use this or ever think to use this.)
  • Hopper – This is the top portion of the juicer, where you place the chopped pieces of produce. It also connects to the Chamber.
  • Auger (Upper End) – This upper end connects to the lower end, where they fit together like a puzzle, and go inside of the chamber.
  • Auger (Lower End) – This lower end connects to the upper end and goes into the Chamber. This joint auger portion is where the real juicing is occurring.
  • Chamber – This is the juicing portion that contains both auger pieces. It is also responsible for discarding the pulp and the juice, in separate areas.
  • Body – This is the mechanical portion of the juicer, where the motor is. It connects to the wall, and the connected portion of the Chamber and the Hopper fits right on top of it. There is nothing to connect or any of that, you just place it on top, like fitting two puzzle pieces together and push the button to juice and it starts working!
  • Juice Container – You place this at the spout where the juice comes out to collect the juice, where this container acts as a pitcher of sorts.
  • Pulp Container – You place this below the area where the pulp is discarded by the juicer and it collects the pulp.
  • Power Cord – This connects the Body to the wall.

How to Assemble the Hurom H70 Juicer

Although it might seem like 9 pieces is a lot, the Hurom H70 Juicer is really easy to assemble. Here are the steps that I follow:

  1. Gather all pieces and place them on the counter where I want to juice.
  2. Connect the Power Cord to the body, and then to the wall.
  3. Place the lower end of the Auger into the Chamber. You will want to make sure that the part that looks almost threaded goes in first and is on the bottom.
  4. Place the upper end of the Auger on top of the lower end. They fit together like puzzle pieces, so if it doesn’t fit how you are trying, just move the upper end a little to one side and it will fit and slide down to fit together.
  5. Place the Hopper on top of the Chamber. These two pieces connect like a food processor does, where the top portion needs to line up and then be slid to the side. You will see on both pieces that there is a certain line where they should both be aligned together.
  6. Place the connected Hopper and Chamber onto the Body. There are two areas on the Body that again, are like puzzle pieces. There is a certain place for the juicer outlet to fit and another designated place for the pulp outlet to fit. Once this is placed correctly, the juicer can be turned on!
  7. But wait, you will want to place your Juice Container and Pulp Container appropriately beneath each spout. The Pulp Container fits directly under the pulp output, while the Juice Container acts as more of a pitcher.
  8. You are now ready to juice and can place the produce inside of the Hopper and turn the juicer on!

How to Juice Using the Hurom H70 Juicer

Once your juicer is assembled, you will need to prepare your fruits and/or vegetables that you are wanting to juice. This includes cutting and/or peeling, depending on what you are hoping to include, and those instructions are included in the recipe book. My go-to is to make the pieces of fruit twice the size of a bite-size piece, and to cut the peel off of oranges, instead of worrying about peeling them perfectly.

There are two ways to juice. You can either (1) prepare a bunch of produce and place it into the Hopper before turning the machine on to juice, or you can (2) cut and prepare as you go, so you just keep placing pieces you cut into the top hole of the Hopper while it is juicing. I prefer the first option when I am alone, and the second option when I am juicing with my kids because it is just so much more fun for them to get to keep adding cut pieces of fruit and watch it juice out as it goes!

The turn on button is located on the Body, and all you do is turn it on when you want to juice and turn it off when you are done or need to take a break to prepare more produce.

More detailed instructions are located in the video below, along with some examples of juicing different types of fruit.

How to Clean the Hurom H70 Juicer

The Hurom H70 Juicer needs to be washed by hand. Although I love products that can be washed in the dishwasher, I do not mind having to hand wash this because I like to make sure that all the areas are cleaned thoroughly and the only real way to do this is with hand washing. It is also just as simple as it is to disassemble the juicer as it is to put it together (see video above).

Here are the steps to clean the Hurom H70 Juicer:

  1. Unplug the juicer from the wall.
  2. Lift the connected portion of the Hopper and Chamber directly up from the Body to separate the washable portion from the motor portion.
  3. Disconnect the Hopper and Chamber by sliding the Hopper to the right (reverse direction from when initially connecting the pieces), and now you can open the lid to the Hopper and it is ready to be washed.
  4. For the Chamber, you need to first pull out the upper end of the Auger, and then pull out the lower end of the Auger. (I have had a few instances where, depending on what I have juiced, it is a little harder to get the lower end of the Auger out, but you just need to pull it up and out of the Chamber.) Now, you can wash all three pieces individually. (The Chamber is a good place to use the cleaning brush that came with the juicer, especially where the pulp outlet is.)
  5. Clean the Pulp and Juice Containers.
  6. That’s it!

My Experience Using the Hurom H70 Juicer

This juicer works great. We have juiced so many different types of fruits, and even vegetables!

The different fruits we have tried include stone fruit, pineapple, citrus, grapes, apples, berries, and more! To be honest, the only fruit that didn’t juice well was mango, which juiced a bit, but the fibrous part of the fruit that came out the other side of the juicer was basically the same as the piece of mango I initially put in there! (You can see a better idea of how the juicer works to juice fruit in the video above.)

As for the vegetables, I have tried kale, spinach, celery and carrots, to name a few. They greens juice down to almost nothing, but have zero traces of fiber! The celery still has some fibrous pieces after the juicing. And the carrots, they are the best out of the four! You can see more on my review of how well this juicer works with vegetables in the video below.

Overall, we have found it to be easy to use, a fun activity to do with kids, something that the kids love to mix and match different fruit and be very excited to taste afterwards, and easy to clean. I also really like that you can juice anything in it, including making nut milk (which I have yet to try!). I have a separate citrus-specific juicer that only juices citrus, so for this juicer to be able to juice citrus and everything else, that’s a big plus!

Pros

  • It juices almost everything – it’s an all-in-one juicer
  • It isn’t loud
  • It juices quickly
  • You can easily clean all pieces (there’s even a small/detailed brush that comes with it)
  • It is easy to put together and to use
  • The juice is very well filtered (there’s no trace of fiber in the pineapple or orange juice, or any small lingering seeds in the berry juice)
  • The juice still tastes good the next day
  • The motor has a 10 year warranty!!!

Cons

  • Price
  • It does not juice mangoes well
  • You have to peel citrus before juicing it
  • The celery juice produced still has some fibrous pieces included
  • You have to hand wash the different parts

Conclusion

The Hurom H70 Juicer is a great option for an all-in-one juicer. It’s compact, lightweight, easy to clean, easier to juice, and it doesn’t make much sound at all. If it is in your budget, it is definitely worth trying out.

How to Buy the Hurom H70 Juicer

As of the date of publication, you can only buy this juicer on the Hurom website or on the Wayfair website, but since the prices are the same, I would recommend buying it from the source!
